Auralis · Spatial-audio sculpture
Sound, given dimension.
Listening objects for homes, galleries and architecture: nested machined bands around a single core, shaped so the sound and the sculpture are one thing.
02 — Form
Five bands. One core.
Silhouette
Each elliptical band sits on its own axis, so the object changes shape as you walk around it and never shows the same profile twice.
Separation
A few millimeters of air between bands lets sound pass through the form rather than around it.
Light
Machined edges catch a thin line of light; the translucent lens band glows faintly when the core is active.
03 — Collection
Three scales of listening.
Fictional product concepts, presented for this portfolio. Not for sale.
04 — Engineering
Engineered in layers.
- 1
Shell band
Outer frame that sets the silhouette and carries the edge light.
Machined aluminum · ~310 mm span*
- 2
Carrier band
Holds the inner layers on a crossed axis to keep the form open.
Brushed steel · ~255 mm span*
- 3
Lens band
A translucent ring that diffuses the core's light around the object.
Frosted polymer · ~210 mm span*
- 4
Driver band
Bronze-finished ring where the drivers would sit in a production design.
Bronze PVD finish · ~160 mm span*
- 5
Inner band
The smallest ring, close to the core, framing it from every angle.
Brushed steel · ~115 mm span*
- 6
Core
The compact center that houses electronics and a soft status light.
~60 mm diameter*
